2021 Mandrake 'The Golden Apple' Sauvignon Blanc

$18.00

You may have raked in $10 for winning second place in a beauty contest playing Monopoly, but Aphrodite doesn't do second place. When she was given the distinction of the most beautiful goddess, her prize was an apple made of gold.

Sourced primarily from sustainably farmed vineyards throughout Santa Barbara County, this Sauvignon Blanc was fermented and aged for 11 months in stainless steel tank. The wine also contains a small percentage of old-vine Chenin Blanc, grown in the Clarksburg AVA, which was fermented and aged in neutral French oak barrels.

Before you even pour it, the clear flint bottle shows off the gorgeous pale golden color of the wine. Citrus fruits dance with honeycrisp apple on the rim of your glass, followed by slatey minerality and orange blossoms on the palate. Hints of stone fruit and tropical fruits lead to a fresh finish with bright, mouth-watering acidity. Aphrodite herself may not age, but this wine will be most enjoyable from now till 2022.
